Best sample packs of the month: February 2022

We’ve scoured the internet to select a handful of sample pack releases that have stood out this month. Our top picks for February include a rare Italian organ synth, some liquid DnB, free effected vocal sounds, some thigh-slapping country guitars and more.

1. Cookin Soul & Soul Supreme – Supreme Cookin Vol.1

Grammy-winning Spanish producer Cookin Soul has teamed up with producer/keyboard maestro Soul Supreme for a pack of smooth sounding, soul/jazz samples with a nod to classic hip-hop and the instrumental pioneers of the 70s. It comprises 10 deep and atmospheric cuts, all crafted from scratch using a Fender Rhodes Mk1, Moog Sub-37, Sequential OB6, Yamaha U3H piano and more. Each kit is BPM and key-labelled and comes in composition or stems format. Cookin Soul told us that his sample packs are built by him and for him: “When you hear my releases, you’ll hear my drum packs. That’s really what I use, it’s no mystery.”

2. Soundiron – Verve

This version comes with deeply sampled stock presets, 30 ambience patches created with the source content and 20 custom sound design presets, weighing in at 3.4GB. The GUI also offers advanced performance controls such as swell, glide speed, vibrato, octave and more. Plus, a full multi-FX rack includes extensive IR spaces that provide additional sound-shaping options.
