It’s been three years since John Frusciante returned to the Red Hot Chili Peppers lineup, and we’re now on track to hear the fruits of the band’s work since then. funk-rock icons announced a new album called Unlimited love Which will be released on the 1st of April. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album marks their first new music hit with Frusciante in 16 years.

“Our only goal is to get lost in the music,” the band stated in a press release. We (John, Anthony, Chad and fleaThey spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and appearing to each other, to produce the best album we could do. Our antennae aligned with the divine universe, and we were so grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and once again, we tried to get better. The days, weeks, and months we spent listening to each other, composing and jamming freely, arranging the fruits of those jams so carefully and with purpose. The sounds, the rhythms, the vibrations, the words and the melodies tempted us.”

RHCP teased the new music earlier this week with a jam between guitarist Flea and Frusciante but has now released the first single from Unlimited love. “Black Summer” begins in the distinctly melodic Flea style in a calm setting before things pile up on the chorus.

The Peppers are still scheduled to participate in a world tour that will feature support from Thundercat, A$AP Rocky and Anderson. Paak, Free Nationals, Haim, Beck, The Strokes, King Princess, St. Vincent on specific dates.
